PLEASE NOTE: This role is on-location (100% onsite, 10am – 7pm CST) at our datacenter in Eagan, Minnesota.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer for a permanent on-premises data center opportunity with a fast-growing, highly innovative company that offers a path for continuous technical development and to be part of a dynamic team delivering services and ensuring stable lab environments for engineering and developers.

How you’ll spend your time here:

  • Deploy, configure, and replace servers, storage devices, and network equipment.
  • Organize, label, and maintain cabling for networking and SAN.
  • Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on switches, servers, arrays, or infrastructure based on identified issues.
  • Receipt of damaged/failed hardware internally and replacement through Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process.
  • Diagnose server and storage equipment connectivity issues, including basic troubleshooting of network transceiver and optical fiber.
  • Use collected diagnostic information to engage vendor support organizations (HPE, Dell, Lenovo, etc.) by opening support cases and following up on hardware fixes and investigations.
  • Working on challenging and dynamic problems in a team atmosphere.
  • Execution of all work to Data Center work process & procedure.
  • Act within Service Level Agreements (SLA) on the tickets assigned to you in your space.
  • Track lab inventory and ensure proper documentation is completed.
  • Be accessible via cell phone and willing to work on onsite emergencies as needed.
  • Participate and complete training that aligns with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new relevant technologies.
  • Documentation of activities and build/modify SOP's.
  • You should be able to execute small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects.
  • Manage the goods in/out process for your dedicated storage facility and keep full records as directed for all incoming/outgoing assets and a full availability list of all items in storage.
  • Carry out daily housekeeping checks of the data halls and record their findings.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of data, track various forms of media to check for standard data security issues (e.g., data was not properly erased) handled in accordance with company security standards.
  • Decommission IT equipment such as HDD/SSD, network, servers, storage, and backup devices.
  • Maintain capacity within the data center in terms of space, power, cooling, and patch panel port availability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We’d love to speak with you if you possess many of the following:

  • Associate’s degree in computer science or an equivalent field preferred
  • 1-3 years of work experience, involving basic computer skills
  • Field Service or Data Center Technician experience preferred
  • Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP)
  • Effective written and verbal communication at all levels
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Motivated, dependable, and responsible team player
  • Passionate about computer hardware and computer systems
  • Strong knowledge of hardware components is a plus
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing server hardware issues from major vendors
  • Experience troubleshooting Ethernet network connectivity issues
  • Familiarity with remote management tools
  • Good understanding of data cabling and patching
  • Good experience using Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to respond promptly to issues, provide updates, and escalate when necessary
  • Fluent in English
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Work can be physically strenuous, and workers are required to be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Work may require excessive bending or stooping.
  • Employees are required to climb ladders.
  • Employees are required to use hand tools.
  • Employees are required to work safely in the data center.

Disclosure Pursuant to Applicable State Equal Pay Transparency Laws - This position has a starting pay range as listed below. Actual salary depends upon many factors, including a candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience, location, and salary expectations, and therefore a starting salary at the low end, high end, or even above the stated range may be offered. This position may also be eligible for bonus compensation, commission (if in a sales function), and/or equity grants. Additionally, full-time employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits framework, including health and wellness benefits, vacation, paid holidays and refresh days, 401(k) retirement plan, life and disability insurance coverages, and other benefits the Company may offer from time to time.
